| Qualifying ratios |
Calculations that are used in determining whether a borrower can qualify for a mortgage. There are two ratios. The "top" or "front" ratio is a calculation of the borrower's monthly housing costs (principle, taxes, insurance, mortgage insurance, homeowner's association fees) as a percentage of monthly income. The "back" or "bottom" ratio includes housing costs as will as all other monthly debt.

A deed that transfers without warranty whatever interest or title a grantor may have at the time the conveyance is made.

An excavation from which building stone is obtained; the act of taking stone from the ground.

A plane in a building stone that was horizontal before the stone was cut from the quarry.

A large clay floor tile, usually unglazed.

Lumber sawn in such a way that the annual rings run roughly perpendicular to the face of each piece.

Veneer sliced in such a way that the annual rings run roughly perpendicular to the face of each veneer.

A corner reinforcing of cut stone or bricks in a masonry wall, usually done for decorative effect.
